"Du tar ikke et bilde, du skaper det."

a short biography
I was born in Norway in 1965. My first four years I lived in the industrial town of Høyanger. After that, my address has mainly been the small town of Voss. I bought my first camera in 1984. It was a used Yashica FX-D Quartz with a Yashica ML 50mm f/2 lens. After that, there have been many cameras and systems, mainly Pentax and Canon. My first digital camera was a Canon Powershot G5, bought in 2005. Even though we live in a digital age (and I use digital cameras) I have not been able to let go of the film-based part of photography. I think of using film versus a digital sensor as choosing a different palette. How a painter chooses between oil or watercolour. The analogue approach, and the use of film, also serves as a calibration of my photographic eye and feeling. Using a traditional photographic technique has a refreshing effect on my professional approach and my creative expression. I see myself as a nature, landscape and documentary photographer, and based in the western Norwegian nature, I consider myself lucky.
